Southern Salt Seafood Company located on the waterfront in Morehead City offers some of the areas best fresh seafood combined with excellent service, live music and one of the areas few outdoor decks where patrons can enjoy the fresh salt air as they watch boaters pass by. 

Friday night I experienced a unique menu offering of all-you-can-eat local caught steamed oysters! This special menu addition is available on Wednesday and Friday nights. All-you-can-eat fresh local shrimp are offered on these nights as well. 

The enormous indoor bar serves as a great place to enjoy your favorite libation as well as meet new friends. The space fills up quickly during dinner hours with visiting tourists as well as locals knowing that this a fresh seafood hot spot. Located right beside a large docking area for local sport fishing boats, groups of fishermen discussing their days catch were scattered around the bar space.

I ordered the all-you-can eat fresh, local oysters for my meal. The steaming hot oysters were brought out in a large tin and shucked right in front of me. The gentleman shucking was obviously well experienced as he quickly filled up three cups of tasty, salty oysters. An accompaniment dish of saltines, sliced jalapenos, horseradish, lemon and cocktail sauce were presented allowing me to custom make each tasty bite! The extremely large oysters spilled over the sides of each saltine. The three cups proved to be more then enough to fill me up and I fashion myself as a big eater.

The bar maid checked on me multiple times making sure my empty glass was quickly filled and assuring that my meal was enjoyed. Had a great experience! Upon sharing my delicious meal with friends I was chastised for not including them in this bountiful feast. I definitely plan to return again and this time with my seafood loving friends in tow!
